Mark, This isn't the first time you have defended this guy. For someone who seems to be in the "mix", I truly am amazed. I would expect you knew his back ground from Marcus Hutchenson first hand. Just because a guy walks into your store and pays for goods doesn't make him an honest man. Erik Munck was a good example of that. A smart crook dealing on the level these guys do, do not screw over their suppliers. They take advantage of the unknowing private individuals. They know the laws and how to stay one step ahead. I would bet you have supplied him parts for cars he has stolen...unbeknownst to you of course. Maverick has quite a a rap sheet. If you doubt my word, talk to Marcus Hutchenson, he will provide you with more information on this guy than you would care to know.... all the way to embezzlement. He has been jailed in Florida(?) and has warrants out for his arrest in 2 or 3 other states last I knew. As time moves on his craft gets better and better where he can hide in plain site. He knows his strengths and weaknesses everyday he walks out of the house. I have heard from others at car get togethers in Calabasas, that if he smells or sees the police, he quickly slips away. He has been working on very high end cars, but the 928 is one of those arena's he can play in where the consequences and the funds backing the victims aren't that great.
I wish I still had all of the websites and alias's this guy went by. Marcus sent me pages of info as I was trying to help him take this guy down a year or so back. I believe 4 or 5 cars were recovered with Marcus's widebody. There is a thread or two somewhere on the Rennlist. This guy has no physical address for himself or ASAP...or a phone number beyond a cell if he even gives that out. Haven't found his website lately, though it never gave an address or working phone number. BTW, his real name is Derek Kelley as it seems on some of the police reports and people who have ratted him out across the country.
Sorry for the hijack folks.

I hope that interior is Alcantara, and not suede. Suede would not wear very well, and look terrible after a few months. Alcantara is more expensive than leather, but feels like suede and is easily cared for.
I'm not crazy about the hodgepodge of material arrangements in the interior, but maybe that's what the "customer" was looking for.

I have to agree with you about the design of this interior, I'm not crazy about some of the choices.
However, you are wrong about suede and Alcantara. Genuine suede wears really well when properly treated and Alcantara also demands some care if you want it to remain nice.
I'm not sure who quoted you, but Alcantara (the real automotive stuff from Italy) is not more expensive than leather. It might be more expensive than cheap leather, but it is about the same price as the leather commonly used in Porsche. But if you take into account that there is far less waste with a man made material, for a whole project it comes out less expensive. Those who choose Alcantara for a car interior should make sure that what is used is indeed the automotive grade Alcantara. There are many cheap copies out there that are not even UV stable.
I have genuine suede in my car, including the seat inserts. They have been used for about 15K miles now and still look and feel like new.

The work on that 928 was most likely done at Rich and Famous Auto Tops, 14747 Bessemer st. Van Nuys, CA 91411. That is where the guy brings (has them brought too) the cars to get re-skinned. Again, there is no ASAP, it's just a front name and he has others do his work. They can't contact him as he has to contact them.

Sweet ride, but the Louis Vuitton pod cover and mirror bras would not be my skin of choice.

you need to be careful when basing your accusations on hear say.
Erik Munck never "took" me personally, but having ran SOCAL928 for the years I was there, I received emails from people all over the country about him...and several didn't even own 928's.

Agreed. However, based on the character of Marcus H and my first hand dealings with him over his car, I got what I think is a clear picture of Mavericks MO seeing the written/typed words with my own eyes. Of course my intent is just to protect others from this guy. I always appreciate it when I get a heads up from someone else.

Larry, The first part of my statement was he never "took" me. I don't deny any of the time I spent over there. I was swept up in his hospitality as with many others, but just because you saw things as an onlooker, didn't mean that my time as a moderator and figure in SOCAL didn't warrant many to contact me about private affairs. I can, but won't, name 3 people that you know, that felt they were seriously "overcharged" for work Erik did that was never authorized....not to mention all the cars that he drove that he was working on for months, without the permission of the respected owners, AND, letting his friends driver these cars. You can also say I am the one always bringing up his name...only as reference these days, but do a search. I defended him like many in the beginning, of course until my eyes were opened by others...which is what I am doing now...pay it forward!
Say hi to Randy as well for us!

And, I officially apologize to KAZ and any others for the pissing fest on Renn in 2002 over my defending Erik as such. I simply didn’t have the negative experiences with Erik that many others had already come by and too at first was overtaken by his initial generosity…which came at a very expensive price later on. I also asked the 928 Socal forums to ban Erik from further advertising his services so others wouldn’t become victims.
Bottom line – Erik was operating as a business without a biz licenses, charging sales tax on services rendered and…excessive over charging and…completing work not authorized while charging for that too. In the beginning...it looked too good to be true...and it was.
Erik did loan customers cars out without customer’s knowledge. My truck was one and Jo Dyer’s supercharged GTS was another that I personally know of- I took this photo in front of my house at a pool party that both Keith, Erik, and Larry attended. Joe's GTS is the white one...um...not driven by Erik or Joe...hmmm.
And if anyone really knows about Erik...Joe does.
I don't know this other guy you speak of but...I'm staying out of that one.

OK...OK...I'll stay out of this...(mostly) and honestly I'm not trying to stir an old pot but after I was sent these links...and not by Keith...I think they should be posted for those to make their own judgements.
