! button
I am so used to hitting the (!) button on the console for things like low on gas, etc. that I never thought of this question till now:
Should the (!) light above the speedometer come on when the (!) button lights up on the console (i.e., are they wired to come on together), or is the (!) light just for extreme emergencies?
I have had the (!) button come on several times (gas, E-brake, etc), but I don't believe that my (!) has ever come on, so I am wondering if I should be thanking my lucky stars or I should be replacing a bulb....

Chris-
"Should the (!) light above the speedometer come on when the (!) button lights up on the console (i.e., are they wired to come on together), or is the (!) light just for extreme emergencies?"
I think that the difference between extreme warnings and basic warnings is that the light cannot be reset with the button on extreme warnings. I suppose that if you can reset the light, that you are getting one of the basic warnings.
Both my dash and console ! lights behave the same.

Both of the '!' lights should light at the same time.
The CWS is broken into 2 levels - serious and non-serious. The non-serious alrams can be acknowledged whereas the serious cannot - and the '!' will blink at you to get your attention.
Sounds as though you have either a dirty contact on the PCB/ribbon cable connector - or possibly a burned out light bulb.
You may be able to reach up and jiggle the ribbon cable connector to make the Pod light work (if you have arms like ET's) - but more than likely you need to pull the entire Pod out to investige and repair the problem.

Chris,
On my car, when I turn the key on (just prior to cranking position) all dash lites come on (as a lamp test) including the !. My ! stays on until I release the parking brake.
Does your dash ! lite up when the key us turned on?
