Default Crank comparisons

Killav is making a rear main seal press-in tool.

He needs to drill holes in it to correspond to the bolt pattern that holds on the flywheel.

I have an '83 engine on an engine stand that is readily accessible.

If we use that engine as a pattern, will the bolt pattern be the same for a 32 valve engine?

Or will he have to make 2 tools?

Same but the LH cars have a dowel pin between two of the bolts to reference the flywheel for the timing.

Sterling, that is what he's making.
Jim, Is the dowel pin just between the two bolts or is there any extra gap between the two?

just between all the bolt spacing is the same which is why you need a dowel pin to be sure the flywheel is clocked correctly to the crank...for LH cars which read engine position off the flywheel.
