Default Source for acorn nuts for plug wire brackets?

My plug wires are a spaghetti mess and so I ordered up the brackets that I'm missing. Turns out they don't include either the little M5x10 hex bolt that holds them to the valve cover, nor the M5 acorn nut that holds the plug wire to the bracket. Here's a shot of the bracket, bolt, and nut (BTW, the bolt is grade 8.8- only Porsche would use 8.8 hardware on its freakin' plug wire holddowns....)

The hex bolts should be available at an Ace hardware (though technically they probably should be yellow cad plated like the brackets), but I have no idea on finding metric acorn nuts. Thoughts?

Rob

My names Jon and I have Stainless Steel addiction.

If you have problems finding metric hardware in the US - must be getting easier surely, OK maybe not I just did a quick ebay search and found nothing less than M6 . Try this guy on UK ebay
http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQfrtsZ50QQsassZaruncas

if the link doesn't work Need to go to ebay.co.uk and search for seller aruncas. I've dealt with him a few times when I was in the UK but I've no idea if he would post to the US and if he did UK postage rates also include a free solid gold wrapper with everything posted - ie expensive - 2.5 times USPS rates.

If you get stuck I think I have some M5 stainless Acorn nuts - I think you need 4? - well I only have 4 on the 90GT - and how long is the thread on the M5 cap screws that hold the bracket to the cam cover I'll send you 4 of those as well.

Just pm me your address and they'll be on the way on Monday. Can't send them tommorow 'cos Dubbya is in town for the APEC summit so we all get a public holiday woohoo.

Rob--

Try a motorcycle shop if there's one local. The scooter gusy use a lot of acorn nuts.

Else I use a marine hardware store in Long Beach on PCH near Sante Fe. They have the acorns in stainless (not polished) and also in chrome. You can also get stainless nyloks, but they don't have that oriinal look.

On the 8.8 grade bolts-- It's what they had in the bin when they built the cost-is-no-concern 928 motor. The good news is that you won't round out the hex in the head too easily.

Never let it be said that this Rennlist forum is NOT populated by the greatest enthusiasts/maniacs in the world.

Jon went a little out of his way to airmail me (complete with the customs declaration) a set of M5 SS bolts, washers, and acorn nuts for my plug wire holders. He blew $8.50UAS on shipping, what's that, $30 US these days?

Anway, after some forensic handwriting decoding and some help from a local Aussie on how to interpret addresses (Wahroonga? really?), my thank you note is on its way.

Thanks a million, Jon!

-Rob.

Heh its less than $10 US these days Aussie dollar is very close to parity with the US. Which is why Roger, 928 Spec and 928intl are doing a roaring trade to Australia at the moment.

The trashed USD prices will catch up when the shelves need to be restocked with $euro-denominated merchandise. Enjoy the feeding frenzy!
