Completed '90 Intake R&R
Wrapped up a listers R&R that was mainly brought about by the classic hunting idle problem, the intake color is not as snappy as we had hoped but it fit the time constraints. Jeeze, get a roll of duct tape, a Sunday paper, and just respray it in the car, c'mon.
The list included new knock sensors, TSP, fuel U hose, injector caps and seals, MAF elbow, full silicione vac lines/wire tied, flappy actuator, belt tensioning, a couple of extra hose clamps, and the new ISV.
I enjoyed the prilivage of getting to work with Roger on a couple of things and Mr. Ball lended his expertise, thanks Guys!
No rolled injector orings means no injector leaks at start up!!! Ensure to clean and silicone lube all mating surfaces and you will eliminate 95% of your problems.
Upon delivery this morning the car seemed to be missing some ooomf, and as expected, the resonance flappy needed a little lube to get her moving freely.
Let the weekend begin!

Nicely done!
1) Do you have some sort of clamps on the vacuum lines to the underside of the intake plenum?
2) When you got the TPS indexed, did you get the 'click' just off idle? What position did the TPS end up in on its mounting screws?

Rob,
When i indexed my TPS, it was at its farthest point (either clockwise or counter clockwise, i forget) When i previously installed the old one, i just put it in the center of the adjustable range, i think this is why my car didnt idle, i think my sensor was fine, but was just not installed by me properly.

1) Yes, you can see the ties in the pic.
2) Yep, in this case it was ~1/8" movement measured at the throttle cable ball socket.
Another tip to check the install, is to deflect the installed cable between the firewall and pully and listen to the click to ensure the cable and pully are working smoothly.
It's not tough and if were my car, I'd have a slick, veined, gunmetal PC'd intake ready to go on. I just happen to think that gunmetal works well with the black of the engine bay and a red car.

I need do the intake job on the '87 we have. It definitely needs new hoses. I have a vacuum leak somewhere under the manifold and I have a feeling it's coming from the hose to the ISV, or the ISV is crapping out.
Kevin did you guys pick up a new flappy actuator? I'm debating on whether or not to replace mine. Mine works already, but I'm not planning on going back in there a second time.

Thanks Roger, the job was actually kinda fun.
Having faught a 928 fire alongside gas pumps out in eastern CO, I'm spot on with helping others to not have to go through the same.
Good eye Nichole, the owner has not posted so I go with that. I even sent him JD's instructions how to get back on the site.
I agree Bob, and there were some unusual carbon deposits on the underside of that fuel fail, I can only guess.
Andy, just like the pics, get everything renewed... and enjoy driving!
