Cool FAST super charger for early cars coming...

...soon. Got an email last week and he said they are working out some minor fuel issues, but it's almost done.

Isn't that what the pre 300h.p. guys have been wanting. Sounds like 100h.p. is not unreasonable.
Does anyone out there actually have one of these fast sc's on their shark? Sounds like they are doing it right.

Ciao!

I built my own and supercharged my 78 928 Euro. When I called the guys at FAST they only had the beginning of kits for the 32v 928's,so I really had no choice. The HP gain on the early cars is greater (as a percent) than the later cars because the 78's and 79's gave the perfect 8.5:1 compression ratio for boosting.... the later cars with higher compression cannot take as much boost without detonation. I think that it will be a good kit when it comes out, but if they stick to their pricing structure it will be kinda pricey. I did mine (complete) for about 1/4th their asking price (but I made all my own mounting brackets and stuff). They get their supply-side air after the radiator (hot air intake is a no-no) and I preferred the Powerdyne internal belt-driven blower to their brand. It's quiter, more efficient(that means less heat in the charge air) and does not require external oil supply. But again, unless you half machinist, half inventor with a lot of time for trial and error - a kit would definately be the way to go to get it done.

Having watched the FAST kits develop and having read with great interest the stroker crank threads, I'm really on the fence about the best method for upping the juice on the early engines.

Based on what I've seen for short block stroker prices from 928 Performance East (does anyone have any experience with them), it seems that the pricing is comperable versus a supercharger kit.

Can anyone give an opinion on what kind of HP/torque one could reasonably expect for a supercharger kit on a 4.5/4.7 liter engine versus stroking it out to 5.5 or so?

As a side note, would either require upping the fuel delivery - RRR and/or larger than stock injectors?

Thanks.

Here's the before-and-after dyno chart for my supercharged 78 16v 928 Euro. Now, the Euro motors have a little mor HP and Torque than their American counterparts when stock, but that isn't a big issue here. I haven't added up all my receipts yet, but if I had to guess, I spent about $2100 supercharging my 928. Made all my own parts, biut the Powerdyne blower used from a 5.0 liter Mustang owner. The kits seem to run about 4k without blower and 6,000 with blower. Ouch. I can build a helluva motor for 6k. But, I decided if I could get the 350 HP I wanted for about $2,000 (and I did) that'd be the way to go.... when I add the headers and hi-flow exhaust system to it (this month) I will have spent $3,000 getting it all done.
