Default F/S: Porken's lift bars, round style for US 78-86.0, ROW 78-85, Seattle area.

Hey guys,

I have a set of Porken's lift bars for sale, Seattle/Duvall, WA area. Round style for US 78-86.0, ROW 78-85. Lightly used: $150.

Or, a trade for something 928 S4 related of equal value would be considered, or better yet a trade for a set of lift bars for the S4!

If you haven't used these, you don't know what you are missing, they are the bees knees.

I think local pickup would be the way to go as these are pretty heavy to ship. And I could meet someone for a hand-off in the Seattle area if Duvall is too far to stray.

Let me know if you're interested. Thanks guys.

The new owner didn't want/buy them? Craziness.

Maybe one of les Canadians might want one. I can swap you for a 'square' type on the way up.

(I think I know one fellow that would take it.)

No he didn't want them! I talked them up big time and he even saw them in action while I did a F1 pit stop quick wheel swap btw my '85 and '88 when he came to get the '85 - lift bars, air impact wrench (to remove only), you should have seen me go! Ha ha...

No lift bars for the '88 though, so he saw how much more of a hassle it was on the '88.

He mentioned he wasn't real mechanical. Red flag for me as I told/encouraged him to start wrenching. Start with the easy stuff, oil changes, etc. Hit up rennlist, etc, etc. He didn't seem too interested.

So, if I don't sell them before you head up, if any of our brother's from the Great White North would like them, that would be great if we could do some type of multi-person, multi-national dealio.

And if we did the swap, of course I'd pay you for the difference btw my sale price and your price for the new bars (I'll be buying a set for the S4 from you sooner or later anyway).

Lets keep in touch. Thanks Ken!

Ed - whoa! long time since I've heard that one... where are you from?

Reminds me of a pub in England - giant fiberglass bee over the entry-way with flashing kneecaps - quite a riot.

Most americans don't seem to know that 'Bees Have Knees' - let alone that this is a good thing...!

And I pretty much would have thrown the bars in for the price of the car that he offered me. He seemed like a decent guy, and all's he had to do was say "Hey, how about you throw in those lift bars, and we have a deal?"

In which case I would have made faces and mumbled a bit before reluctantly saying "Wellllll, ok."

And I just sold my dirt bike, and I gave the buyer a sh*t load of aftermarket goodies because I was too lazy to take them off the bike and deal with selling them. Sometimes I'm too nice.

Ha ha!

Born in NYC, lived in New Jersey for 33 yrs or so before moving out to the Seattle area.

And I don't know where I picked that one up, just came to me.

And I've been to a few English pubs on my trips over to Windsor, England, good beer and good times!

Technically? For you lawyer types, no.

But, I did sell my KTM dirtbike. Rode it 2 times in the last year. Don't have the time for it, and have been stressing out trying to maintain it and find time to ride it. Sold it while I could still get a decent buck for it. After selling it, I still had 2 dirt bikes left (or more precisely 1.5).

Then I sold my '76 Husky 250 project. And I have a buyer for my '74 Husky roller project, although he seems to be a bit slow in coming to get it.

So I'm more or less without a dirt bike. But, I'm going to see how this winter goes, and if I can find time to get in shape a bit, and find some time to ride, then I'm going to look into getting one of those killer new KTM 250F XCW's (very light weight, electric start, 250 cc, 4 stroke dirt bike).

Sooooo, in the end, I may end up with a new, or almost new dirt bike!

Who's better then me?!

Ok, lets round out the "What the hell is going on here?!" discussion. In the last couple of weeks, I've:

Sold the '04 KTM 250
Sold the '85 928
Sold the '76 Husky 250
Sold the '74 Husky 400 roller (pending pickup)
Have the '96 Chevy pickup on the market (will be swapping in a replacement tranny into that in the next couple of weeks to make it easier to sell - old tranny is toast).
Selling the lift bars!
Deciding whether to keep or sell the '88 S4!

The S4 is going to need a fair amount of $ to get it up to snuff (imo), so not sure whether or not to make that investment.

Since I don't have a commuter mobile, I'm considering selling the S4 and getting a commuter mobile, maybe something semi fun to drive. I have a few in mind.

Then maybe later, I'll get another 928, maybe one of these screaming deals that keep coming up here from time to time.

Basically trying to simplify, and get rid of things that I have not touched in the last 6 mths, or am stressing out about getting to because I'm not finding time for them. So far, its great, feels right.

There you go. The whole kitten ka boodle.

Walt, lets keep in touch and we'll figure out how to get them to you. Thanks!

Ed

ps: Ken, thanks for passing along the info and facilitating the sale! We'll see about meeting when you head up north, and hopefully I can get some S4 bars then too.

Also considering getting an old boy if I sell the S4. If I can find one at the right price, in the right condition, in the right location (not too far), and with all the right options (sunroof delete, 5 sp, no body side moldings).

Soooooooooo...if I play my cards right, I may end up with a semi fun commuter mobile. A new or semi new dirt bike. And another 928.

Heh heh heh...
