Praise for the 928 in Winding Road

Yet he was a 968 owner and never owned a 928. Nice man had a chance to talk to him about a year ago, had quite an interesting life and many unique experiences. When asked out of any Porsche made which would he own he said a Caymen S IIRC.
Here he is standing next to his 968 he originally owned.

I disagree that its a "blind" statement since I was comparing the two cars I owned. I'm well aware of just how much more powerful the newer 928 motors are relative to the early '80 model I owned and the performance gains. Even with tons more power the 928 is a fairly large car compared to the 993 making it seem like it fills up the road when the road narrows and gets twisty. That always got a little unnerving even if the car stayed glued to the road (mine was lowered, had a set of fat turbo twist 18s and uprgraded suspension that made it handle better than stock). For tight twisty athletic stuff a 993 feels more sporty to me but the fact is with the right driver behind the wheel of a later more powerful 928 I'm sure it would hang in there very well if not even better than a 993. No doubt there are 928 owners on this board with 928s that would smoke alot of stock 993s which says alot.

Now with that being said the GTS stripped down and race ready can be made to perform as well if not better than the other 2 and it would be an interesting race but unless you change the car significantly from stock a 911 is better suited for that type of driving. As far as highway cruising the 928 wins hands down. So if you had a scale to work with where the 928 excelled the 911 falls short and the same in reverse in either case they both cover a large area with the 928 covering say A-W and the 911 from C-Z.

Funny how things read differently the first time. I put emphasis on certain words in your syntax and came to the conclusion you were making a general statement. I take back my statement.
Nicole..thanks for keeping both of my feet on the ground...I just wasn't real sure if we were going to have the opportunity to be reading all of this today. Let's see if we are all here tomorrow...
