Here is what I know to be true in the state of Texas (your state may vary).

Find an automotive appraiser that is "NOT" in any shape or form connected, associated or does business with any insurance company (this is the most important part). Ask some of the car collectors in your area, they may know of one or two. You can pay this appraiser a nominal fee ($175.00-200.00+) to give you a stated value on you car. It is important to keep this updated every three years.

Than if anything happens to your car, whatever insurance company is responsible to pay you for your loss, the loss is based off of the value stated by the appraisal you had done and not what they (the insurance company) deems you car is worth.

It works in the state of Texas

Unhappy

Max,
Kel, a neighbor just dragged in one of those 10 point puppy dogs known as deer around here.
That sucker is destined to be sausage, if that...
The great white hunter messed up field dressing it, THE GLAND! He didn't know, I'll let the butchers tell him.
Good Hunting and better dressing.
And to keep on topic:
Did you put tower seats and install the 4 wheel drive on your sHARk? <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" /> <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

YOWWWW! What a topic. Here's some more fuel for the fire.

GEICO. True story, GEICO donates detectors to police departments around the country as a gesture of goodwill and public safety. Read, "more citations, higher rates."

Insurance rates are determined not by insurance sales people, but by actuaries who run the numbers on large groups of policy owners. Insurance companies are no longer making money on their investments and will need to jack up rates to make them profitable. We will all pay more soon.

Your premiums can be now determined by some companies based upon, but not entirely, your credit rating.

Your premiums can be increased if your involved in accidents that are not your fault because you are considered to be "unlucky."

Insurance can be a gamble, I'm betting I will need it, their betting I won't.

Ladies and gentlemen, place your bets.

Gordon, you hit the nail squire on the head! The insurance game is just that! Legalized gambling.

Another true story (short version):

A couple with three kids who were all under the age 18, the 15 year old takes the car out one knight for a spin and totals the car. The Insurance Company said all the kids were excluded as drivers and would not pay up.

Texas law does not give the Insurance Company (as of this event) the right to exclude in this case, the Insurance Company settled out of court.

In this instance, the couple got lucky. The untruth told by the Insurance Company was leaked by a friend of a friend of an honest insurance agent (far and few between) and they were advised to seek a lawyer that specialized in these matters.

They just hate it when their loopholes are discovered and lobby the states heavily to limit their exposure. The loop hole are there, you just have to look for them or get lucky!

John, I have instead redirected my thoughts to maybe installing a HUD radar system with the early warning option

I pay about 1100 per year for my 84 928s and that is the cheapest that I have found fully covered for a 22 year old. Other than that I was looking min. of double that. That is nationwide, I have never had any accidents or anything so I am not sure of their services and that but my parents have never had any problems with them for over 20 years.
