Post Jacquemond Kits

Ya know, I've always liked the idea of customizing a 928 (I like 'em pure, too) and I have had some exchanges with Olivier about his kits. The pricing is not terrible, considering the small production numbers - and air freight is quite reasonable.

Although I have asked him, I have yet to see or have contact with someone in the US who has actually done one of these conversions.

Anyone? Bueler?

Let's get the skinny on doing one of these.

P.S. to Nicole: I guess you'll have to get a second one and have it painted purple!

I know he's offering the Aero Wide Body Kits for 4k. The rest of his kits are around 8-9k.

To install the kits, you will need to find someone who is an expert with fiberglass installations.

I've "talked" to Olivier a few times regarding his kits. They are nice but the cost to get from point a to b is extreme. You won't be able to finish the istallation for under 18k, if you go with one of the kits priced around 8k. Most of his kits will require aftermarkert wheels and tires that are 17-18".

Kit- 4,8 or 9k
Installation - 3 or 4k without paint
Paint- 2 - 5k
Wheels/Tires- 2 to 3k

Gross estimate on my part.

One thought I had which was kind of pecular (sp), is that he did not have any pictures of the installation process?.

These kits are sharp but way overpriced in my book. Someone needs to ask Frenchy why his stuff is so expensive.

That kind of money for fiberglass is crazy. That is waaaaaay overpriced. Look at body kits for other cars and check the pricing. Granted, many of those are higher production but once you make the mold your costs drop tremendously and the costs of the molds are not that great. I really like his kits but noooooo waaaaaaay am I paying that kind of money for fiberglass parts and then pay another $8,000 to $10,000 for the body work and paint.

He needs to get real with his pricing and he may sell more kits. From what I've seen, I wouldn't pay more than $1,800 for all the figerblass wide body parts and $1,500 for the narrow body.

Strange but during all of the supercharger hoopla, I thought I had gone to www.marcus3.com site and it listed an option to look at pictures of another car being built and I thought it was having a Jacquemond Kit installed on it. But, I just went there to confirm this and the link to the other car is gone. Oh Well, someone might know who this is or was.

definitely the guy is asking for a lot of money. sure its a porsche and all but hes pricing his kits as if the cars were still worth brand new prices which they are not!

i just finished modifying a set of vauxhall side skirts and have them stuck on the car permanently/temporary utilising a few bolts and selotape, i really like the look and the parts cost no more than £150!

If you look at my avatar you will see a fiberglass S4 type rear end and side skirts on my 86.5. There are some slight mods to the front end as well. This was done by a PO using a US fiber company. Don't know who though.

Keep in mind for the Jaquamonde kits you need to add to the price of the kit new trim fixtures as well which are quoted separately.

Rob:

That's when I win the lottery...

Well, maybe I should start playing? Hmmm... My brother always told me I win more if I don't play and save the money. But I always find ways to spend it otherwise. So, unless it starts raining on me, I think my 928 will be an "only child"...

Thumbs up

Jacquemond stuff look cool IMHO. If he can fix his prices I'm sure he'll sell a lot more.

I like the way Jacquemond redoes the head lights, makes them look more like shark eyes. If I could get a set of fenders with those head lights, I'd be happy. He can keep all the rest as I prefer the stock lines of the original.

I saw some of the cars posted on their website at Euro 928 2002. My opnion after seeing them up close and personal....If they were my dogs, I'd shave their asses and make them walk backwards. An abomination Herr Lapines design. JMO

If it's true that the Koenig kit is $1500 then that's not a bad price.I have a Koenig and it's an awesome kit. I have pics of my car on the 'momentosfame site for your viewing. Very few new cars look as good as my 13 year old S4. Check it out:
