Question Hella H4 8" headlights

I found a place that has (can order) 8" H4 headlights for $228.00 each. I'm thinking about dropping a pair in my 84.

Question: Can they be found for less?

I was hot on the trail of a set from a Euro distributor a couple months ago but they ended up flaking out on me. I bought a nice used pair for $225 state-side.

Following is one of the emails from the Euro supplier. Good luck, perhaps you will be more successful than I was with them. (226 euros equals $197.52 US dollars at today's exchange rate)

--------------------------------------------------
The H4 headlight for S4 we have in stock and this will cost Euro; 226 for the 2 ex Tax, plus 45 for shipping.

I may be replacing the 8" H-5 lamps (80/100) currently in my S4 with H-4's in the near future. If you are interested in a set of H-5's instead of the H-4's, I can let these go as soon as my new ones are on the car. Might be a month at the rate I'm not home, though.

Please contact me off-list if you are interested.

Moss928. My guess is that the transaction became complicated (due to the location/currency) and they bailed?

I figured that much. My guess is that he already knows. He is a moderator.

I have included my name with my signature for all to see. I now realize how Batman, must of felt (when his true identity was discovered).

Talking

Gents,

With regards to headlight assemblies, you might wanna try contacting "Import Parts Specialists, Inc." - according to their web page, they can supply a lot of parts for the Shark at very reasonable prices.

If you're looking at just replacing the reflectors, these can apparently be had for $ 44 - $53 (Hella). However, they are listed as 7" on the site, so you might wanna double check before placing an order.

I have not dealt with these guys myself, but I would appreciate some feedback in case one of you US-based Shark owners decide to buy from them.

The web page is: <a href="http://www.ips-parts.com" target="_blank">www.ips-parts.com</a>
(In case all years are not listed when the page pops up, just click on "reset"...)

Happy headlight hunting.... <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

Ah, Patrick me lad - pleased to meet ya!

The reason I gave up on them was that emails were spotty and I never heard back from them when I agreed to move forward with the purchase.

They just were too flaky to continue pursuing. Perhaps you will have better results - maybe talking on the phone will rouse them from their catatonic state.

Thumbs up

I have found a place in Canada that has 8" Bosch H4 pattern headlamps with Bosch H4 bulbs.

The price is $234.00 Canadian ($148.00 U.S.) each. I went ahead and ordered a pair. There is no tax and shipping should be minimal.

I will let everyone know the details of the purchase after I have recieved them (and determined that they are satisfactory).

Wow! Thats a good price! Are those new? If so and they workout, please let us know. I'd buy a set at those prices!

I got them! They are beauties! 8" Bosch. No nipples whatsoever; Pure H4 headlights.

The price: $470.00 Canadian divided by $1.58 U.S.(for the pair)$297.00.

However, I did not receive the bulbs (yet; I think). They were supposed to be with. The package did not have room for much else.

Anyway, if they don't show up; does anyone know a good source for the bulbs?

I'm still holding out on the source until I am completely satisfied.
