I called and spoke to Mark...He indicated that the 225 should not go on a 7" rim, but needs a 7.5"
So - I called Tire Rack to see about changeing my order - they assured me that they would be fine on a 7"

There seems to be a lot of myth and rumour about tire widths and wheel rims. If you abide by all the 'rules' then no you should put a 225 on a 7.5" rim. However it will fit on a 7" and likely you will be OK on the fit in terms of clearance to the fender.
I am now aware of 2 owners with OB 7" rims who run 245's. Not condoning it one way or the other but they do and one does AX events.
As the 225 was out of stock for my 7.5x17" rims I ordered 235 instead.

As long as you don't corner while braking too hard, you should be ok. Unfortunately, the tire can come off the rim if it's pushed too hard. Seen it happen - and it ain't pretty. :^(
BTW, do you think the Tirerack is more concerned about your safety or making a sale? My guess is that they sell you a tire that they know will not fit safely. It's really up to you to know which tires fit safely on the rims you have. In other words - Caveat Emptor. YMMV.

But they will sell you the tires that barely fit nonetheless. If you plan to drive the car more aggresively - watch out! Buyer beware!
Like I said, it's not a pretty sight when the tires come off the bead. Seen it, and I don't want to see it again. :^( YMMV.

I was wondering if you've received and put on your Yoko's
? As I indicated earlier in this thread, I have the same set up, and also want to upgrade the front tires to 225's. If you've already done yours, let me know, as I am on the verge of ordering them. Your response is appreciated. A photo would be cool
