I'll never add up my recipts, becasue I know I've spent WAY too much on the damn thing. If my wife ever found out how much, well I think I *might* get to keep the car, but that would be it.

This should go into the new visitor FAQ:

NEVER add up your receipts. Never-EVER let your wife add up your recipets. Simply bask in the glory knowing that your car is yours, that you do the work on it, and payday is most likely two weeks or less away. To know otherwise can be painful.

Come one Sterling. Just because you have more tied up on 1 car that I will in 2. It can't be that bad.

You've paid a lot more than that. How much is your labor?

I guess I am more compulsive. I keep a running total of everything I spend on both cars. Since I'm an engineer and love my spreadsheets - you can imagine

The problem with this whole thing is that these cars are as addictive as crack, and we all hang out together feeding this unitary, common addiction. So after I read threads like this, I rationalize in my own mind how spending more on my car isn't so bad, since others have gone further with theirs. I did total receipts awhile back (prior to current serious tranny problem, price to repair unknown at this point), and I rationalized that the crazy amount spent was far less than the car was worth when new - how is that for total lack of logic and rationality!
Gotta love it though - driving makes all those things just disappear like so much smoke

Okay here are my #'s

Total amount spent including purchase price of the car, all repairs and all upgrades for the three years 11,570 miles I owned sharky

$2.02 per mile

Take out purchase price........ 68 cents per mile

Take out upgrades, only repairs-maintenance 25 cents per mile....not bad at all!!

It's a F. A. Porsche model 928. Don't think in terms of cost, budget, value... You should be grateful you own one and have the chance to drive it. Save your calculations for a new Impalla or Camry. BTY I am at $1.05 But just relized I need to drive it more to reduce my $ per mile. Thanks.

I'm thinking I'm in the clear on mine. My better 1/2 loves them, understands them and now has her own. I had a boat before this and yes, this can be cheaper. instead of tossing 300 bucks a weekend in to gas and drinks, I'm tossing 1/2 that at parts and gas.

And it is like crack. linderpat When you live really close to Rog100, and many other 928 owners, alcoholic in a liquer store situation.
