TOTAL, all up

I did the math today:eek:
$14,114.04 in the car from 5/10/01
I payed $10,500.00 for the car.
Thats $24,614.04
$4202.34 a year
33000 Miles (my driving)
Thats .74 cents per mile:D

For some strange reason I'm keeping all of my receipts, but I have no intention of totalling them all up. With everything my car still needs, the last thing I need is a reality check.

What receipts?...........even after all these years there's somethings that are better left unsaid with the SO.

Keep up the Goodspending Greg. G

Thats so funny,

I am hesitant to add up all my receipts too. Although considering my initial investment, it cant be too bad.

Andrew Schauer 08-20-2007 09:25 PM

I never figured out a cost per mile until now. I'm at $0.31, doesn't seem so bad after all.:D

Adding it up sounds like you're on some kind of fixed budget. One keeps receipts for proof of parts/work for good record keeping. Not meant to offend, but you really should let that "spending thing" go if you own a 928. ;)

I guess you could say I'm on a fixed budget. If it needs to be fixed, it goes in the budget. :>)

Dont forget GAS.......which is ALOT...

Look at it this way....lets say the resale value of your 928 is $8500 so that brings your actual cost per mile down to 49 cents per mile (in terms of what you have used up)...another way to look at it is this:

You bought a 320hp 2001 mustang cobra for about $35k in 2001 (not sure since I can't find a MSRP)......today it would be worth $15K at best (considering your low 33000 miles)...... or 60 cents per mile..... Repairs would be low.....since you would only be 3 years off warranty....so lets say only $500 per year or $3000 total....so that puts the brand new mustang at about 70 cents per mile.....

So you drove a timeless classic for 6 years at a cost of $2685 per year or $223.75 a month.....not bad at all..... vs a real expense of the Mustang Cobra of $23K....or $7k less over the same time period...& you still OWN a 928.....which of course is priceless....vs a crappy mustang

my 928 is a hobby; it's a toy. cost per mile is not a relevant factor. it's all about how much fun I have with it and am I comfortable with how much that costs.

goodspeed928 08-21-2007 09:36 AM

The FUN FACTER priceless!
I will most likey spend ALOT MORE!
A thats OK

Jim R. 08-21-2007 09:54 AM

I have all my reciepts, and a large bundle from the PO's. I will doubt I will ever add up what I have spent. I have a rough idea, and it is way less than the depreciation on a new AMG, 911 turbo, M6 (or comparable high performance ride) would have been. My car is a hobby/toy, and besides being a blast to drive, it is nice to just get away to the garage and get away from it all.........

+1. Especially for the garage time. Sometimes it's like pushing a boulder up a hill for four hours only to see it roll back down again, but other times... It's all worth it.
