Default Guards Red 1990 S4 for sale

Circumstances with my health (arthritis & hip problems) are forcing me to sell my Porsches.

My Silver '89 928 is already spoken for and will be going to 928 International. It will be giving it's all so that others may live. My Boxster has already been sold, so that leaves my Guards Red '90 S4.

I will post some photos of the car shortly.

1990 928 S4 (Guards Red w/tan interior)

THE BAD
  • (around 125K miles) Previous owner had gauges worked on, ODO reads around 25K miles (not correct)
  • Slack in throttle linkage prevents car from achieving WOT (Bill B. said it is an adjustment requiring intake removal)
  • Computer displays "Differential Control Off" (Bill B. had checked this on his computer/scanner and says that the PSD is actually functioning), most likely a sensor problem
  • 18" TechArt (six spoke) wheels - rough (PO had them installed even though they are the wrong offset, the center caps would not fit... so he epoxied them onto the wheels), if refurbished, these would look great
  • Flag mirrors look rough (same PO's love affair with epoxy on these) - mirror bras cover them up
  • Fan shroud has been chewed-up by fans a bit
  • Funky audio system (PO loved amps and placed them under the rear carpet and added a Bazooka sub)
  • No documentation... sorry, has been lost
THE GOOD
  • relatively new Pirelli tires all around (tires were bought a few months before I purchased car)
  • brakes - new rotors (brakes were done a few months before I purchased car)
  • new battery (Die Hard) just installed
  • will include a replacement fan & shroud setup (original type) as well as a new DEVEK twin electric fan setup (still in box)
  • Bill B. had given the car a scan with his equipment and only the 2 items mentioned above (in the Bad section) came up
  • also included with the car is a new 928 International Aluminum under tray (never been mounted)
  • a complete set of 928 Workshop manuals (new, in box)

For the money, might make a great everyday driver or track car. Only $7000. As you can see, I am not trying to hide any of the car's problems. I am being straight-forward with these. The car is not a concours queen. I have priced the car as I have so that I think it would make a quick sale.

My email is sjshark2@ix.netcom.com

Thank you.

Hi Robert:

I'm very sorry to hear you have to leave the Porsche world! I hope that we'll still see you every now and then...

Maybe you can post some pictures of your car, so people have a better idea what they are looking at. From what I remember it looked pretty nice!

Also, didn't you upgrade it with clear lenses?

Hi Robert
Sorry to see you moving on. My impression of your '90 S4 in person was a lot better than your decscription. I think someone would be getting a hell of a deal at 7K. Some pictures would probably be a big help/benefit. Hope to see you Wednesday.

Alright, I will try to get some pictures of the car up online.

Nicole, the clear corners are on the Silver '89. That one is going down to Anaheim!

Sorry, it is an auto (with a cool retro-style Jager t-shifter). Easily worth an extra $100, but I will throw it in for free...

Wow, good luck with the sale. its nice to see someone not wanting the moon for the car..In fact I think you are just plain crazy at 7-g's. If it was a 5 spd you would have a paypal payment by now... Good luck and i wish you the best.

With the arthritis, it's forcing me to be realistic.

Being cars, they are not going to get any more valuable than they are now. With my health, that also will probably not get better... I will be able to manage it, but it's something I have to live with. Considering what other ailments there are, I'm pretty lucky.

I've been able to drive one of the best cars in the world. I can't complain. It's time to move on.

What has really helped over the years is the 928 community. From really great vendors to guys like Bill and everyone else in between. Yeah, I have been pretty lucky.

I don't need to stick it to anyone.

I've seen Rob's car. I believe any issues are minor. This is a bargain price. If somebody is interested and wants me to look at anything, I'd be glad to put it up on the rack and go over it with Rob at his convenience.

Robert,

I would love to see either some current or even old pics of the car. Interior and exterior would be good.

you can e-mail them to me or post them here whatever works for you

what color is the interior?

Hows the pod and dash?

Oh an engine bay pic would be good too, and does the car have 8 way or 12 way seats?

It has the cashmiere (tan) interior. The pod does have some cracking. The dash has some very small cracks.
