Windshield moldings
Quick question for those who have replaced a windshield. Do you normally replace with new molding as well or use the old one? Are their any major problems using the old one? I need to get a new windshield and was wondering about the moldings as well. I don't have any leaks or wind noise from them now.

the windshield moldings are decorative only they do not seal do not even touch the windshield . The upper one must by removed carefully by prying against the old glass taking care not to bend it , the glass may crack but you are changing the windshield anyway . The Glass is glued into the body with sticky rubberised glue which stays sticky for ever . The rear hatch glass uses the same glue . If the upper trim is not damaged when removing it , it is used again .
I repainted mine while the installer replaced the windshield with a fast drying matt black paint. They look as good as new. I am actually missing one of the small side clips (that covers the gap between the top and side molding), I hope I can buy one somewhere.
