Supporting motor from above for MM change
Read through all the previous on this subject.
What I couldn't find is anyone who has hooked the motor up using the lifting eye that bolts onto the water pump.
I can't see any reason why you shouldn't use it - the water pump and it's 12 bolts are more than strong enough.
Anyone btdt with a bad experience ?

When I replaced my rod bearings, I used the supercharger bracket to support the engine from above (with supercharger removed). It's bolted to the same three bolts used by the factory belt driven fan on the water pump.
Worked fine.

Sounds good to me. Spanners away woodworking tools out. And I have an engine hoist in pieces in the corner just can't face getting it out for this "trivial task"

Jon,
That is where I support my engines and as per the WSM.

I believe you need to be careful that you lift straight up on the eyes. I you were to attach a chain to both eyes and lift from the middle, you can break the block.
