No movement of the shocks that I can see, or have observed. Generally drive at about 60-70 mph on the highway to and from tracks.

You guys know that the 928 has the DOT mandated 5MPH crash resistant bumbers right? I doubt there is ANY way you could harm the bumper system under normal driving conditions with a trailer up to 1500Lbs or so.

the bumper shock absorbers are made for one time compression and not for tension at all...

I had a 3000 lb hitch mounted to my 2001 bmw 530i, and it used four metal bolting points that are frame welded together with 1/2" x 2" solid steel bars, two of them attach to the bottom of the spare tire stow area, and two of them bolt to the rear of the spare tire area, just below where the weld is that joins the two body sections together. Then the steel bars are welded to a removable hitch receiver, the system works great!

Its a similar weigted car, similar hp and suspension, and from looking at the design of th hitch, so it is definately feasable. The best things about it: you have a very sturdy hitch not using the bumper at all, and its almost invisible when not being used.
Of course, provisions for a bracket going around the gas tank would need to be thought out on
