Windshield replacement
There have been a half dozen threads in the past month. All of them wondered about the subject of optimum replacement windshield.
Good brand at decent price. But none got to a useable answer.
Is there one?

I just got a non antenna winshield replacement for the '82 last week from Triumph Glass in Indianapolis - they came to Muncie to install it (60 miles) and it cost $220.00. It was a "Pilkington" windshield.
My old windshiled had wiper scratches. I can't understand why anyone would NOT buy new wiper blades and take the chance of scratching the windshield.
It looks like they have a branch (three actually) in Minneapolis.

I got a Sigla with antenna for $300 plus shipping off e-bay last winter. With glass it's a crapshoot because there are basically two prices for every windshield. There's a price that the cash paying customer pays, and then there's what the insurance company will pay. Most of the time the insurance company pays out less. The insurance people will deny this, but then again, they also deny it when they shortchange every other business out there. In addition, it's the only possible way to explain why one person gets a windshield for $300 and others pay over $1000.

My insurance paid over $1000 for an antenna windshield, and that included a lousy installation at no extra cost. Ask me if I care what the insurance company pays. I could not care less.
