What's that in the rear view?
New view in my rear view mirror with speaker box in place. Not finished yet, just a dry test before finishing box in vinyl / Leather.
About 2mm between top of the 2 x 12's and the hatch glass. 15" has about 1/2 inch. Still have to mount up the amp rack tomorrow. With the speakers, amp rack and rear wing, not sure if I'll need the rear view anymore.
Looked back for the first time, giggled like a school girl and figured I had to share. And yes, that's my bald head in the corner..

I would be afraid the first un-intentional slam of the hatchback will catch the top of one of the speakers and leave the glass in fragments,

My 1st car back in high school was a '73 911, then went muscle car with a '70 Mustang 428, then a couple turbo cars, got into sound systems, then had to grow up. Minivans for several years, I can finally be a kid again. Had to go back to my roots with the P-cars. Still love the musclecar as well as the audio and tuner scenes, just not ricer cars themselves.
My trouble is I want to do too much to quickly. Hybrid, Audio, Paint, Brakes and sway bars etc.. Wife is making me tackle one at a time. With the Hybrid parts finally here, I have been motivated to pick up the pace to finish the other projects.
So yeah, I have a German car that speaks Japanese with a southern accent. Would that be Germanese?
As for the rear hatch, I had done several hard drop tests. All is good.

Seriously, I hope you have that stuff secured back there. It could be quite painful when all of it keeps moving forward when the car suddenly stops! Why are the speaker cabs so big anyway?

The larger the air volume the lower hz the box can be tuned to. You feel bass from 80hz down to 30hz. Tuning a box down to 80hz or below gives it more punch and less mud. Since any box in the back would ruin chances of using the hatch for storage I went all out.
