Ive searched previous threads endlessly for this answer.
Question: How many yards are needed to replace every peice of carpet in a 928? I am thinking between 4-6
Let us just assume i am buying the carpet in bulk and will deal with cuting paterns later. How many yards do i need for complete coverage? Would i then maybe buy 120% of that figure so that I know I'm safe?

Ryan,
I just got some for my rear seat delete. The width is wide enough to go side-to-side (I think it's 54"?) but only where it's mostly flat. There are lots of pieces of carpet and some of them need to have their edges done (I forget the term, but it's when they put that vinyl beading along where it overlaps). In case of mistakes and redos, I would suggest at least 8 yards, just guessing and never having done it.
Keep us posted if you're doing this yourself, I'd love to see how it's done and how it comes out.

We did this job to The Guy's car last year with one of the kits. That job was a pain in the butt!!
I'm guessing, from the below shots of all the carpet pieces, that you'd need at least 6 yards, and it would probably be safer to go with 8 to 10 yards if you don't have a lot of experience with this sort of thing. If you get glue on the face side of a piece while trying to install it, you'll need to be able to replace it. And Mike is right, the binding on the edges is another area where you'll have trouble. You can certainly buy some appropriate binding at any fabric and sewing store, but can you sew? And then what about the backing for the floor mats?
Plus you will also need to source a couple pieces of vinyl...as you can see in the pics, there is a little of that attached to a couple of the pieces. Those pieces go by the doors, and the vinyl is wedged under that black ribbing or whatever that runs around the jamb. I figured it was in case the doors leaked a little water, the vinyl won't be damaged as easily as the carpet and would be a little sturdier for that application.

Yes I will just go with one of the kits for $600. I found a guy offering OE Sliverknit at $40 per yard and I thought either buy a bunch from him and do it myself or maybe just buy a yard or 2 and fix some trouble areas that I have int he high traffic sport.
But, I think why bother with just doing a few spots, the new spots will then really make the old carpet look like crap.
So yes I will just spring for an entire set. But not at the moment. I Will do carpet when i Re-dye seats which will probably be in 3-4 months.
