loctite and tbf
good news/bad news (sort of)
pulled the tranny/torque tube on my 88 this week. had done the loctite fix last month to prevent tbf. well the good news is the fix seems to work. the driveshaft has not moved a bit. the bad news is that maybe it works too well, because i couldn't get the driveshaft out of the pinch collar despite heat, penetrating oil, a few well placed hits, etc. had to remove the pinch collar assembly from the flexplate and knck the driveshaft out from behind it with a hammer. interestingly i found several hardened "strips" of loctite in the splines. so for those of you who need torque tube replacement after the loctite fix, you may need to do it as i did. well worth protecting against tbf though.

snowball,
the recommended torque to "prevent" tbf is 110% of normal or 66ftlbs.
max,
used green on the splines (penetrating) and red on the bolt threads. theres a pretty good writeup on greg nichols site under auto trans. greg nichols site
