Post Bridgestone S-03 questions

Anyone running the S-03 tire on 16" wheels?
Sizes I am looking at are the standard S4/GT
sizes of 245/45 and 225/50. However the 245 shows as a "YR" speed rating and the 225 shows as a "WR". Are the two compatible?? All the stats (temp/traction/treadwear) show to be the same. I see that 928 Specialists sells a complete set of them in the 16" size, but looking for some living proof.....

Hey Mike,
I would suggest that you go directly to a tire expert, and get the info from the horse's mouth.
The big 3 are all familiar with the tires, or go to www.tirerack.com and they will give you the 411......

Just for info, the ratings are as follows......

V - 149 mph

Z - 149+ mph

W - 168 mph

Y - 186 mph

Dave

You shouldn't have any problem with the "W" rating mixed with a "Y" rating as both exceed most 928's abilities.

Just some additional feedback on SO3's in general. I installed 255/45 front and 275/40 rear on my 740iL (18" Rondell 58 wheels - 8.5" front and 10" rear).

A huge improvement in handling. These SO3's grip like crazy and are very quiet. The real test will be how long they last! BTW - I purchased them at COSTCO (special order) at a price that beats Tire Rack.

Thanks for the responses. I actually checked with TireRack before asking the question.....but they pretty much gave the standard response....
"not to mix speed ratings" which I value....but,

I'm thinking that the 245/45 tire is rated slightly higher (YR) just because it is slightly wider with a lower profile then the 225/50(WR). Most likely they are constructed the same way with the same compounds. Any thoughts??
Bridgestone doesn't really look like it has a
tech email or number to call for such matters.

I have stock sizes S-03 on my S4 and they work great. The only negative (?) is the 245/45 looks skinny. I would definitely buy them again.

My recommendation is not to mix it. Try the So1's porsche approved n2
