Default Lost dash indicator lights

My indicator lights on the dash (P R D 3 2) went out. I replaced the shift indicator with a leather boot so I have to count to make sure which gear I'm in. I had all the contacts cleaned and bulbs replaced when I first got the car but I'm guessing there's a short somewhere. Is there anything that can be done without removing the pod? Any other suggestions.

Check the Starter Interlock which is what drives these.. if these are all you lost its very likely not in the dash. Since I don't have an auto - I'm not quite sure if the connector for this switch is on the transmission selector or actually mounted on the transmission case. I'd assume on the transmission - though the wiring would be shorter from the selector. An AT guy will know where...

The switch sits at the tranny.

Yes - if only one is out its probably the bulb - especially the D bulb - wonder why?

Very easy to change - with the pod out...

My D light is out but it's no big problem in the dark as I can go on the ones around it which light up!

I haven't done a pod removal so could be an excuse to try - just a little concerned of breaking anything that works fine in the dash right now. There was a worrying post recently from someone who'd bent the speedo and tacho needles...

I had a simular situation on an 88 S4 after I checked and replaced broken dome lights, door lights and replaced the light fuses with new ones my lights on the dash "D" started to work. Easy places to start. Gerry

I just replaced the front dome light but the lights worked after. They stopped working after I washed the car actually (or thats when I noticed it). I have had other electrical issues after washing the car. I'm afraid something else will go out if I start fooling around with the pod because I had the whole thing out and fixed when I got the car.
