Jack, same problem with my 79 but it was the passenger side high beam. Traced everything and couldnt find the problem. Started at fuse panel and traced the power wire from the fuse, to behind the fuse panel to where it goes through the fire wall. Had power at that point. Found the same wire in the bundle on passenger side wheel well. That same wire didnt have power. So somewhere between the firewall and that point (which is only 3 feet or so) there is a loss of power.

Instead of trying to tear everything apart I just ran another wire from the drivers side high beam power. Hid the wire so you cant even see it running across from one side to the other. I know its kinda a chicken **** fix but it would be really hard to get into that wiring bundle to locate the break.

Hope you dont have that same problem. If I were you I would check all grounding for that headlamp and use the wiring diagrams to trace the wires and make sure they are on the correct terminals.

You didn't happen to mention your model year there Jack ol' boy, but it could be relay XIV, or some other, depending on the model year.

Our pals at 928 Specialists have fuse/relay charts for all model years that may come in handy if you don't have an owner's manual:
