Anybody know what the part number is? I could get the manual mirrors, but I figure if I'm gonna splurge for aeros I might as well go all out.

I'm in as # 5. Seems to me, that if it's okay for a parts suppliers to beat each other's price, and advertise that fact , it's okay for a consumer (on the other team) to share that information with other consumers. Thanks Ryan.

I agree. I support our local guys as well our major parts suppliers. BUT, isn't this what Rennlist is for? Finding the best deals? Knowing where to shop? Thanks Ryan.
I buy my paint by the half pint. Carquest will do it and its Plenty for a set of mirrors. 40 bucks. For the do-it-yourselfers, remember primer, paint, clearcoat... I say your best be is to get in on the group by or spend the money to have a shop do it. Unless your set up to do it or have extra paint handy its not worth it. My .02.

Hey Ryan, I have no problems with you whatsoever. Especially with your attempts to help inform fellow Rennlisters as to the costs of 928 parts. Thats great that you are willing to share that info with everyone, even if you have to repeat it. You can bet I made a note of the Porsche dealer in Oregon for when I get ready to update my wife's '91. $340+ is a fantastic price for the mirrors.

Regarding Roger selling them, you keep indicating he sells them for $400. Its my understanding from speaking to him two months ago & from another 928er that just bought a set from him, that his price is around $485+/-. Thats closer to $500 than $400. Of course I have no problem with that either cause I know Roger & trust him. Purely the lowest price is not always the deciding factor. It might be worth paying Roger the extra money just to have the assurance that I will get exactly what I need with one phone call to him. I also want to support our 928 suppliers as much as possible so they will always be around for us too. I know if I buy from him & there are any problems it will be taken care of. Maybe buying from a Porsche Dealer across country is ok too for me, but I'd make darn sure I had my info straight when I ordered so as to not have to deal with them if I needed to return something. Its not like if I bought from Brumos Porsche here in Jax, its close by & I know the head of their parts & service depts. personally for over 12 yrs.

I suppose it was not what you are saying, but how you were saying it. You may or may not have meant it to come across as it did. But to me you're tone was just a bit harsh & condescending is all. As though you are aggrevated at the stupidity of others here. I know you were only trying to help people not overpay. I don't believe I've yet met anyone here that is perfect & knows all that there is to know, about 928s or otherwise. I know I am way down the totem pole in what I know about them. Its why many of us are regulars here of course.

I do completely agree with you about things being more expensive thru ebay & items being less expensive other places if you just look or ask. And for any who'd wonder, no I am not "G", whoever that may be.
Cheers!

Roger does indeed charge 485.00 and the 115.00 brought a flawless paint job, from someone he trusts. ---Is this kind of money justified for a pair of side mirrors. No, not really. It's insane, almost. However, if I'm going to pay the cover charge to get into this party, I might as well buy some drinks. I thought about getting the manual mirrors, they almost never get readjusted. Then I realized that there would be two very expensive switches with no function on my door.

What the hell. G

I saw a second gen Miata (flush mount headlights) today on the way to work and the mirrors are much nicer than the first generation. They are fairly close in look with the aero units. At least that’s what it looked like when I passed it.

Our mirrors mount pretty well vertically on a pretty much flat surface. 911 mirrors mount on a rounded surface, and so do Miata mirrors. So, it would not fit.

Thats nothing that a grinder wouldn't fix.

Not to mention that the thick rubber gasket will forgive some of the difference in contour.

They're here the Ebay seller is very good. I just love these, they're lightweight, look good and it's a fuzzier feeling knowing you share mirrors with a Ferrari instead of a Camry.
To mount them I'm filling the 3 existing holes in the door. This mirror isn't on a tall stalk so it wants to be mounted high, in between the top most hole and window.
They adjust by tilting the glass in all directions, the whole mirror body also tilts on its base so you can make it level with the car.

I just spoke with Roger, although not about this. I like Roger, I think hes a great asset. The post was not to prevent a sale from him. He was never mentioned by me. I dont know why you keep going on about this BS.

I said $400 cause thats what someone else said in this very thread. I never asked Roger for a quote so i dont know what he charges. When the thread started and someone said. "I want to avoid paying $500 for aero mirrors." My response was, uh no they arent $500, they are $340. In an attempt to get the thead starter to reconsider the Aero mirrors over cheap alternatives. I dont know about you, but for $500 i would say no, for $340 i am more apt to say yes, although to this day i have still not bought them. So apparently $340 isnt worth it to me at this time.

That was it, that was what was stated very simply in the first response to the topic. Simple as that. I never mentioned Roger in the damn thread, George just assumed i meant him as he bought some from him. Goerge also send me a moronic PM and suggested that if i upset him again, to do it in person. What were you going to want to throw punches over this BS?

I am not going to continue on with this thread, I thought I was doing you all a service but as i stated yesterday, if i get more flack for telling others of a good buy, then screw it, I will keep my deals to myself.

I AM NOT TRYING TO UNDERSELL ROGER! I do not sell these things! I dont have them in stock, I am not running a business, it was just to help others.

AND TO MEL AND GEORGE,
AGAIN, i was refering to ebay sellers who have them for $650. And to whoever it was that posted a quote from Utah. I laugh at that quote. Thats the type of "out the door" deals i am trying to help you, the uneducated consumer avoid!

Cheers

Who knows more about this Aero adapter for older cars...?

All S4 w/ flag mirror have the same drive electrics as the aero mirrors - though the connections are no doubt slightly different - most owners should be able to handle the wire mapping OK.

Pre S4's have the same looking flag mirrors with very different electrics... and the car wiring is quite different too. Is the adaptor to make Aero's work with these cars?

The way that system works is really quite different.. who makes this adaptor?

Mel,

As to your point of being harse & condescending, sure i get that. I could have sugar coated it. But I wouldnt have said it had someone taken it so personally. Look, people make mistakes, but we learn from them right? If i do something to my car that screws it up, i am going to tell those on Rennlist. I am not going to hold it back and wait till someone else does it so i feel better about myself and say, oh yeah that happened to me. WTF, I try and be a help.

Since George was obviously upset by my post, (which btw never mentioned him, and who i had never even heard of before this thread) and took it as a personal attack on him, sorry, but you read way to much into things. I had never even noticed you before on Rennlist, now i know you exist. I dont care what you paid for mirrors. My post had nothing to do with you and was meant to help someone else avoid paying more then they had to. (Also, I dont think you paid to much. I do think $200 to install them is a joke, but as you so clearly pointed out to me, you had many other things done as well. So if you really care what i think, then i think on this project you got a good deal.)

Also about paint. I said you should be able to get them painted for $100. I stand by that. I know somepeople in shops will ask, "whats that off of?" and when you say the P-word, the price doubles, for Ferrari it quadrouples. I got a quote to repaint a bumper cover for my car. The place that was reccomended to me, quoted me SIX TIMES the amount i paid the guy just down the street.

Most people dont know what it costs to paint anything. So that was another area that I thought should be addressed. Cause i can see shops saying, "oh those two mirrors $250-$300 bucks" and thats a rip off. So dont let some idiot at a shop try and talk you into paying that much. Ive paid too much for things in the past, and it always annoys me. Whenever i see something i paid too much for i think about it even if only for a second, why. Then again, if you can throw money away and you feel good about yourself, then cool, I am always accepting donations.

That's what I've been trying to find out. As far as I know the adapter makes the wiring match right up, but I honestly don't know for sure. But, any extra information that somebody could post would be great.

Oh and to Roger,

If because of this thread you never sell another Aero mirror set. I am sorry. That wasnt my goal by any means. Good thing there are 10 million other Porsche parts right
