Uh.

On my way home from a track day, I started hearing occasional noises from the tranny when driving windows down. I went to garage today, put the car on stands, started it, selected 1st gear and released clutch quickly: Loud metallic noises coming from the transmission before it catches up to TT speed.

The transmission still shifts fine and the LSD seems to work. Any ideas what could have failed? This is a G28.12 with LSD. Can I check anything of interest just by removing the rear cover plate?

 

Drain oil and check. Ultimately open it up!! Can't drive this way and speculation is a waste of your precious time.
