Very cool. It's like eye candy... It changes five different colors.

These gauges were made to fit 86-91 944s, so they are not "exact". I got them because thay don't make them for the 928 and they were close enough. They fit perfectly but some details are evident. 1. It has the fuel economy gauge portion that early 928s have and 944s have... mine doesn't. 2. Two of the warning lights are different. That's it. 944 gauges and 928 gauges have almost identical faces.
The antire gauge lights up! Not just the markings. These are the same type of gauges that come on all new Lexus GS300/400, the new 2003 Mustang Cobra and the upcoming 2003 Mercedes E-Class (shown in -Men in Black Movie). They are cheap and comsume less power than the stock three bulbs factory set-up. They also light up in six colors, they can even be made to lght up in red and orange. It has made a HUGE difference in the feel of the car. It has a new car feel to it. Great eye candy at night too.

I bought them on ebay for $72, but they can be purchased directly from them at their web-site. It's: http://www.procarparts.com/store/displaycategoryprod uct.cfm?pcategory=Indiglo%20Gauges&psubcategory=Porsche.Indiglo.Gauges

OR

We can all have our own specialy made indiglo gauges for our 928s! There is a web site that will make them. Each gauge is designed by each indidual (colors, markings). All they require is a miniumum group buy of 20, you can sign up on their list. You won't be billed until all 20 poeple have signed up. The prices should be about the same. This is the cheapest a best way. Check them out at: http://www.speedhut.com/15orders.asp

I also encourage you guys to check out the entire web site. So that you can familiarize your selves with these gauges. Also, SPREAD THE WORD. All we need is 20 people.

Here is one more pic. I put the Porsche sticker myself. I lowerd the brightness so that the camera can get better detail. I also

I'd be interested for my 87, how do you cope with different requirements for different model years though ???

These are great. I've been looking for a cool way to update the dash. The dials you bought from ProParts look exactly the same as for my 79 928. Should these work fine then?

I'd be interested in getting these as long as it was a match for my gauges. No offense, but I don't like the way it looks if it's not perfect, especially considering the effort involved to swap the stuff.

Folks,

I just inquired over speedhut how to get the "928" started with their program. I'll keep you informed.

Looks like Weissach may not be a regular visitor here.

Absolutely Brad, let us know your progress. Perhaps we could generate enough 928 interest to have them produce a line for our cars.

This is great. Hopefully these pics will generate interest in these gauges, so that speedhut will make them. The car feels twenty years newer at night. Not even the later 89 and up model years look this nice. I am currently making one very wild 928. I have owned over eleven 928 since the age of sixteen. I have always had "the crazy one" in mind, but never had the time. I am finally close the completion. I will post pics soon.

Keep your 928s in top shape and restore them to better than new....

Thumbs up

Folks,

Here's the email response I received from speedhut:

In summary, whoever takes charge with finding a pod and shipping can get Free lights. For all others is $120. Not to bad. Let's discuss!
-------------------------------------
Hi,

The Group Leader is the one who sends in the cluster for his car. Please don't use your own car's cluster, we don't send it back. The best thing is to get a cluster from a junkyard (it does NOT have to be in working condition HOWEVER it DOES need to have everything intact - ie needles, etc). Please do not spend a lot of money on Postage sending your cluster to us. Send it Ground Mail or whatever is cheapest. Make sure it is INSURED however! And remember to add your contact information in the package.

Once you send it to us we will consider you the Group Leader for your car. We will then be able to add your cluster to our Group Buy Program. Then it will be up to you, as the Group Leader, to answer emails pertaining to your cluster about the Group Buy. We will be in contact with you through out the process.

Once we receive 20 Pre Orders we will begin tooling for your car. You as the Group leader will get your Indiglo Dials for FREE. We also offer additional discounts to you and your Group. *Free Text, Free Graphics (ie Flames, Race Stripes, etc), Free Logo's off of our Standard Logo page. In addition, we have your Group (through you) pick one additional logo to add to your list of options. Usually this is your Cars Make or Group Logo.

We also can add the Km/h version to the Pre Orders for FREE as long as we have at least 5 Km/h Pre Orders. If there are less than 5 people wanting Km/h then those that want Km/h will split $99.00 between themselves to have Km/h put on the gauges instead of MPH (i.e. For 4 people $25.00 will be added to each of their orders).

The price for our Pre Order Program Indiglos will be $119.95 plus $8.00 S&H per Pre Order.

Thank you for your interest and please email us if there are any further questions.

Thanks,

Customer Service

Gotta agree with Big D on this.... I like the look, but would want the gauge face markings to match my existing factory pieces.
This is further complicated in my case because my gauges are the original euro-spec in German. The speedo is in kilometers per hour only, oil is "oel", and similar variations.
I'm not sure if there are another 14 people on the planet willing to sign up with me for a minimum purchase....
