Post Replace rod cap nuts?

Do the connecting rod cap nuts really need to be replaced during a rebuild, as stated in the factory service manual?

Mine have been removed once, with zero damage. I don't believe there is anything wrong with them whatsoever.

John, they're $2 each. $32. Wouldn't you rather know than believe?

ALWAYS replace rod-bolt nuts with new!! <img border="0" alt="[nono]" title="" src="graemlins/nono.gif" />

It's not paranoia to replace rod bolts too. <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

John,
What they said! Don't think about it, don't guess, don't do anything else but replace them.

By the way, replace the rod bolts too. <img border="0" alt="[blabla]" title="" src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" /> Very cheap insurance. <img border="0" alt="[bigbye]" title="" src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" />

cheers <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />
