Default Mintex pads

Why are they so much cheaper than the others, like for example Pagid???

Are the others just that much better?

I had a set of Mintex and they were soft and very dusty - never again. Didn't last long either. I have the Hawk Street Plus pads now and WOW! What a difference in stopping power. But the do squeal under light/street braking. I hear Hawk Streets don't squeal as much.

I have run mintex on both my 928 and my C4....... I didn't notice them being any more dusty than the factory pads, and both cars have excellent braking. I am about to change out (a complete set of) pads on the C4 and was surprised how much cheaper the Mintex pads are. I got 104k out of the factory rear pads on the C4, without going through the wear sensors, the front pads lasted about 60k. I then replaced them with Mintex pads. I will check the fronts when I swap out the rears in the next week or so.

The shark gets a lot less use, but I am happy with the mintex pads DR sold me several years ago........ no noise and the dust is not any more than I remember with the factory pads. So if the price difference is due to "softness and dusting"...... I am good to go.

Thanks, Andrew.

These were so cheap I couldn't resist trying them:

I can't tell the difference, but what do I know...

You got hosed......... front pads for my 2000 C4 were $38. I bought a full set (4) of cast hole rotors, pads, sensors, and backing dampers from DR for about $600 US. 96 BPS for a set of pads seems a bit of a rip off to me.
