Thumbs up Another good San Diego Mechanic

Just wanted to mention a good mechanic for any 928 owners in the La Jolla or Pacific Beach areas. Mind Over Motorsports is a small shop that is primarilly focused on Porsche race cars and high-end / modified street Porsches. Although mine hardly qualifies in either category, apparently they have decided to handle more street rides due to pressure from their clients.

One of the owners was a mechanic at Beverly Hills Porsche so we've got some experience in working with the street stuff.

These are guys in their late 20's and early 30's so rock'n'roll tunes, lots of posters etc.....I like the vibe there...It doesn't hurt that a couple of Porsche factory RSR's for racing are usually sitting around and being worked on, to make things interesting. How's 400 HP at the wheels in a normally aspirated motor sound to you?

I just had some new rubber put up front and since these guys are watching tire wear at the track all day long they immediately knew why my last tires wore out so quickly. From information shared here on rennlist I read about strapping the car down to the ride height after lifting it. Chris and Tim (owners) told me this even before I mentioned anything, a true sign that they know whats up. Plus they stayed late on a friday evening after a hellish day of other car problems just to get my car finished...they even offered to put it in the shop overnight if I couldn't wait and said they'd come in on their day off so I could pick up my car. Fortunately they got the job done before I had to meet friends at the Padres game (no I'm not a fan - it was a business event)

For all you guys who've been complaining about the car being hard to steer in earlier models I say better check your allignment and try a fresh set of tires up front. I can't believe how much easier the car steers even at a crawl now.

Anyway, just wanted to spread the good word. Also, its nice to have an ice cold brew with them when you pick up your car, it takes some of the sting out of the repair expense. (I'm not suggesting that a beer comes with each repair visit...I know some of you may go there just for the beers!) <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
