Default Hi Beam and fog light problem help please!

Hi I have just installed a fog light relay that has been missing since I purchased my car but the lower right fog light does not illuminate. The same lower light does not illuminate when I select high beam. What could be causing this? I have checked all the fuses and the relay is new. Is there a common ground that could cause this?

To rule this out....have you checked the connections to the fog light and the bulbs?

I pulled the fog light lens off and all the bulbs appear to be connected correctly. I could not verify the connection past the bumper cover where does the that connection go? what would I have to remove? the bumper cover or the front spoiler?

Thanks Dan 1990 928GT

I know this is the obvious stuff, but do you know that the bulb works?

Also, (and again, I don't mean to harp on the obvious) but there are two sets of lights on each side - one set is the fogs and the other set are the "auxiliary headlights" (the ones that come on with your high beams). They operate independently of each other - the fogs operate by the round push-button switch on the left side of the pod. The fogs don't come on with the high beams, and in fact should turn off when the high beams are switched on.

Which ones work and when?

The bulbs are good, I even tried new bulbs. Gaz I think I know how the lights work but I'm not 100 % sure . I feel as if its something related to both sets of lights because the aux head light on the right side does not come on when the high beam is engaged and the fog light on that same side does not come on when I press the round fog light switch. Can anyone please post some pictures of what I should see when the lights are working correctly?

Thanks
Dan

If you have a test ligth, pull the bulb out and check to see if its getting juice to socket. May just be corrosion.

No corrosion present at the bulbs. I checked all the connectors behind the glass lens and they look new.

the connectors your looking for are in front of the wheels inside the front fenders under the headlights, remove the wheel , fender liner, and front block off -plate, then you can check the wires and see if they are connected, also pay careful attention to the wire routing of the headlight harness it sometimes will break if the harness hold down clamps are too tight this can also cause the other light systems to fail , you should be able to locate you problem in the front of the car and just to make sure put in a new set of fuses dont use( harborfreight) fuses, do this first

Yeah Dan, you have the expected operation right. Sounds like the wiring is unhooked down in there. Good luck!
