Help me solve headlight problem?
Can anyone help me out with my headlight motor issue? I've supposedly wired the connector properly, but the headlights don't go up. This makes night driving a little difficult.
I only see two relays, but the book calls for a third. I'm lost. Help.

The motor is fine. I appreciate your help, thanks a lot. Wiring problems are not my forte.
I just checked the relays and the two work. The schematic is a bit fuzzy, but I think I can interpret it.
I've seen mentioned a "headlight concealing reay", but haven't a clue which one it is, if it really exists.

Do you have an owners manual?. All relays are listed within. I have my mnaual but I'm not sure if the realys are located in the same spot. Sorry that I'm not much help -

Gregg,
You actually have 4 relays for the headlights. Relay III (top and first on the left) is the relay for the headlight motor. Fuse 19 is also for the motor. Make sure the contacts for the relay and the fuse are clean. If in doubt replace the fuse with a new one. You should also have a relay for the lights, No XIII, which is on the bottom and the fifth relay from the right. A headlight control (XVI) is located on the top, fourth from the right. A safety relay (IV) is located on the top, second from the left.
Looking at the wiring schematic reminds me of the favorite dish at an Italian restaurant. I would initially pull the III (top left) relay and check for 12v at the 87 or 30 connection. If no 12v at either recheck the fuse (19) and check for battery power at the fuse holder. If one of them has 12v connect a jumper between them to see if the headlight motor works. If it still doesn't work the motor is bad or the connections are wrong.
If you need a copy of the schematic, mail me at dpw928@prodigy.net and I'll scan one for you.

Hey Dennis, I do have the schematic, and realized there are FOUR relays. I'm going out to check right now. We're going to lick this problem. I'm affraid maybe an incorrect relay is installed.

YEAH! Twas relay IV. Yet another fried internal wire. This time it was something like a number 40 wire size. Time for magnifying loupe and tweezers. Basically, open heart. Headlights are up and running.
Thanks all.

Dennis, good question. I don't know why. It DOES appear to be the correct relay, tho. I must have save $200 so far, repairing versus buying new. Now, let's see why the electric fan isn't coming on. And that darned A/C radiator is really not needed. I think it's coming off. It must obscure at least 25% of the air from getting to the main radiator!
