Bastard's block is comin' home!
After a long wait, my block is finally on its way home to Kentucky! The UPS guy was wearing panties and refused to pick it up because it was 12 lbs over the 150 lb limit. They had to seperate the pistons and maybe the girdle within a seperate package.
It ended up with a bore of 3.7404", or 95.006 mm. Nikasil thickness is about 0.005" thick. It is supposed to be straight to within 0.0001"
JE Pistons will run with about 0.0025" or 0.06 mm of clearance, because they expand more than the stock cast units which run 0.0016" of clearance.
It is only a matter of time now...
Get the parts, balance the assembly and re-assemble the Bastard.
At least I have had ample time to clean every single part on the entire engine. Nothing went untouched. All is wrapped and ready to go, spotless. It is a real feeling of accomplishment.
I just hope it runs when I am done.

It's so cool to have everything cleaned and disassembled like that...
You will feel like you have a brand-new turbocharged Porsche engine...
Nothing broken, worn, or leaky...
Did you end up cleaning up the manifolds?
They looked pretty rusty.
A good candidate for nikel-plating or ceramic coating...

I had the manifolds coated with a ceramic metallic coating, inside and out. They are textured because of he older surface rust, but they look really good. The color is black, and is supposed to be okay up to 2000 F. It is a very thin coating. Cost was around $220.00 for all 4 pipes.
Jumping will start when it finally runs! Should be a few weeks, then upgrade the intercooler and fuel management system, and FINALLY up the boost to the calculated limit on the dyno. Reminds me, I have to schedule the dyno time soon, they have about a 1 month wait.
I have considered having the pistons coated on the top side, but I worry about how well they will hold up. If anything lets go and goes through the engine, pissed would not be the word to describe it.
