Installation of valve lifters?
Is it best to fill the valve lifters with oil before start up?
I was told they should be empty to avoid holding a valve open during initial startup?
Any suggestions? Some of them don't have enough oil to hold the plunger from dropping down if I press on them.

John.
The lifters should be pump up, submerge them in engine oil for a couple of day. Prime the ones that are springy by pumping them manually while submerge in oil.

Steve,
They are soaking in Rislone right now, but it seems like a few of them won't take the Rislone in. Maybe I should try engine oil. I wanted them in the Rislone so they could be clean after all is said and done. I had a few tappy ones every now and then on initial startup.
I guess I can always inject them with oil through a needle.
