Question Extended Steering Hub Question

I had the extended hub on my last car, but not on this one. Are they easy to retrofit? What do they go for used? I assume they have to color match the shaft of the steering column or are they hidden somehow? My short arms could use an extra 20mm of wheel towards me.

TIA.

From what I've been told, you're best off getting a complete steering wheel with the extended hub. You can't just put the extended hub onto a standard steering wheel. It requires that the steering wheel have a couple tapped holes in it to accept the hardware that hold the hub to the steering wheel. So you'd have to drill and tap holes in the right spots on your steering wheel to use the hub.

I have never seen a steering wheel with extended hub on an 89 or later model. I'm not sure, if Porsche even offered it then. They changed the turn signal switch unit completely, so there might be changes to the hub as well. Before trying to retrofit a steering wheel with extended hub from an earlier model, make sure the hubs are similar.

Perhaps I should have ordered the "longer arms" option from the "MOM" factory.

Come to think of it. . . there's a few other options that I could have gotten. . .

Nah, I'll leave that to another list. : )

Seth:

You're not alone, but they don't allow any exchanges in Mom's baby factory.

If I had been born in California, I probably would have fallen under the lemon law...

For what it is worth, I installed the AJUSA 930 3 spoke wheel on my '89. It comes with an optional spacr that not only extends the wheel out about 3/4 of an incu, but also raises it up. Both are a big improvement as not only can I now push the seat back to a more comfortable position for my legs, but I can actually see the top of the guages now because the wheel does not block the view.

Gretch--YOU RULE. That is exactly what I was looking for. All I need to figure out is whether that spacer will fit with the OEM 3 spoke wheel that 928 specialists sells.
