I think he was active before my time. I remember the name, and a photo of his girlfriend behind his 928. Supposedly she tried to demonstrate that there are nicer butts than that of a 928...

I'll bet the email list here preserves his posts.

Yep, I remember Gene on the Porsche Fans list and loved his comical banter, and sharp wit.....
Also miss seeing Leonard Laub, Kurt Gibble, Phil Tong, Stephan.....
That was back in the day when David Roberts awesome 928 venture was still just a twinkle in his eye, and he had the time to post regularly..... I could go on and on.....
Who'd of thunk we'd have come from long dissertations on wheel offsets, battery ground wingnuts, to-pin, or not-to-pin the Weissac, to where we are today?
I've said it before, and I'll say it again..... For me, the people I've met thru these cars have been their greatest gift...!

Unfortunately, I never knew him, but he sounds like he was a credit to the 928 group. He certainly gets bonus points for his girlfriend. After seeing that pic the past couple of years, I just noticed it has a Florida tag on it!! Was he from here in the Sunshine State? And of course, I've always loved a 968 cab, not that most would notice it in that pic either!

I've just been reading some of his posts from back when. He was a classic to say the least!!
Here's one of the posts that I just could help but chuckle at.

Jeroan,
Thanks for crapping up about eight hundred computers around the world. You have endeared yourself to every 928 owner in both hemispheres. I'm gratified that you looked up the correct spelling of "curmudgeon". Now go look up Cretin, Imbecile, Idiot, moron, and inconsiderate son of a bitch; then go take a long hard look in a mirror; then go out and play in the left hand lane of the autobahn. We have braindead ******** like you in this country too, but we shoot them here.

I may not have known him, but you gotta love him!!

Terry,
Would you call a Ferrari a "Ferrar" or a Chevrolet a "Shev" or a Maserati a "Mazz" ? just thought I'd ask. Having driven Porsches as in "Porsha" for a very long time.

Thinking if not already, someone should add that last line of his comment to their signature quick!
His subsequent posts he apologizes & still keeps his sense of humor!
"My apologies to Jeroen Berloth. I've experienced similar things in the past, as I'm sure most of you have, and in a moment of anger, typed my caustic message. It didn't occur to me at the moment, that it was a software glitch. Please forgive me Jeroen, I just hope it's not too late to recall the Tomahawk cruise missile heading for Amsterdam.

Dean,
I knew it was only a matter of time before someone on the list came up with a solution to Magic Blower Syndrome, This morning after reading your post, I went out and started the Porsche and let it idle for a few minutes with the AC turned on low. Within minutes it came on high. I immediately threw it against a tree and voila! it stopped! Often the most complex problems have the simplest solutions.
Gene O'Rourke"
If only I'd known of this solution before! I miss the guy without ever knowing him!

Any Hot headed sniper who can apologize and be funny at the same time is way cool by me....alot of quick tempered members could take a clue from his play book......as for his wit we do have one forum member who is alot like him....check out ttc...aka larry man he is a stitch...any apology from him though would be most likly followed by a stiff whip lashing...lol
