It was a used euro engine taken out of a street car. it was rebuilt as scot was going to use it for his race car, and we have learned not to put any engine in the car unless it has been rebuilt! (or is known). right after it was installed, it was run, dynoed and commuted to several track events and run for several laps before it lost water due to heads that were not tightend to the final stage. since the engine had to come out, and was in the process of making a 5 liter euro short block, we thought it would be worth it to put the 5 liter in.
so, here we have a brand new 4.7 euro block, with only a few hours on the engine.
here is the engine just before install, and with in minutes of the heads being pulled off after its removal

I hope you put some WD 40 down the bores so the new rings didnt start to corrode?

This engine is new. all new seals, NEW rings, new bearings, and it is clean, not to mention it is just barely broken in. forget about all the labor, as you are pretty good at the assembly, but think about the costs for all the little stuff, as well as the shop labor to balance or modify the crank. those cylinder walls look toast too. I wouldnt put that engine back together with those scratches.
engine (almost) ready to go. need to wrap engine and ship it out .
take advantage of this. right now,its a perfect engine that scot or I will not ever have a use for.

From: uk, cornwall, where it rains - mostly!
Hi All
Many thanks for all the offers of help and you guys in the States seem to have an endless supply of 4.7L short engines!
To update:
Done the rounds to the machine shops with my crank, and had contradictory advice on metal spraying. You know, 'yes no probs' to 'no way mate' and pretty much anywhere in between!
Grinding just the one journal is frowned upon, with loads of 'if thats what you want' type answers.
Anyway, I have got an unmarked STD crank and a con rod to replace the one that had the shell spin.
I wasn't sure whether or not to replace the piston rings, I eventually decided to bite the bullet and go for it. Only to find that there are only 2 sets in the UK, not the 8 I need.
The pistons didn't show any signs of blow by gasses, so I guess the old rings will have to go again!
I should have everything I need by the end to tomorrow, so the build up begins. All being well I will have the engine in and running just over a week after damaging it.
