jim, many of us are interested to know what you find out. i guess i can understand the fact that turbo ulli wont spill the beans on his modification but iwonder how much money he has made through not sharing? some of these guys out there who make up a part for the 928 act as if they are going to retire through the sales...

john, thats some quick work in stripping the engine. can the crank be ground and oversize bearings used? i think the individual cylinders can be bored.. but it might be more economical to replace the whole engine.

Not only is that very quick work, but from the photos it looks like you've been working outside? And that is some feat in the weather we've had recently...

The worrying thing is why did that journal fail ?

Perhaps a blocked oil passage ?

thats ok! yes, Im talking about knuckles!

we will find out this winter when, hopefully, the 6.5 goes in and the holbert engine gets retired with SOME kind of record in the books!

Im knocking hard, as i do want that ITE championship. its a close race right now, and the hardware and resourses im running against is really stout! this last race was funny, i didnt even turn one wrench!! just showed up, unpacked ran the race from last place and ended up 3rd to keep the points lead!

I'm embarrassed to admit, I some how look forward to the day the Holbert engine gives it up, so we can find out what secrets lay within.
Of course, I'm also pulling for you in the championship this year, so it does even out.

CORRECTION: its the 28/11 (1982 euro) its is brand new, and it is perfect.

new everything. seals, rings, cylinderwalls are without scratches. And, only run for a few hours with amzoil!

cylinderwalls were perfect, so it was re-ring, re-bearing , re seal, and put back together. there was no problem with the engine, but we wanted to have it be like new.

Mark, could be interested, especially with the pound/dollar as it is now!

Let me know if you are interested.

rods and crank $300
almost brand new euro 4.7 , $1500

What engine is it that you have?
What has it had done to it?
Has the crank been ground, if so, by how much?

right! you cant count the stats where someone didnt turn on the accusump or was banging the rev limiter!

what in the heck caused the cylinde wall scoring. parts from the bearing after failure??

Keep in mind, the holbert car isnt the only amzoil , redline racer that has survived my techniques.
the 84 racer had 170,000miles on it and 30,000 of racing, scots car is running strong and REAL fast right now. 1:41 at laguna for scot, is 3 seconds faster than Dean Krenz when he visited Laguna Seca for his first time. also, 1 second faster than Mark Anderson's time in speedvision GT when he ran the real Street tires (heinrich) and anderson has 200more hp than scot!!!!! just showing DOT Rs is the worst kind of punishment as well as being driven hard. somehow the Amzoil, filled to just over the level limit, and not banging the rev limiter, is statisticlally a good way to go!

Holbert machine, up to 90 racing hours! (90 racing days, 6 full seasons!)
