I'm on the edge of buying my first 928,its a 1990 s4 with 141000 miles, with full history, the engine has only had its cambelts replaced at the correct service time along with the anti freeze being replaced at the set times too,so no major work has been done at all,is it likely the head gaskets could go soon or some other engine part at this mileage, how long do these engines last with just servicing, and what should i look out for.

Are sure thats the only work done?
At the miles there sould be ALOT MORE DONE!
Have the car looked at by a 928 guy!
OR YOU WILL PAY$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Good luck

Provided the engine has been maintained, the mileage is nothing to worry about. Make sure it has had regular coolant and oil changes. It should have had an H20 pump during one of the belt changes. Clutch done?, brakes? shocks?, etc., etc.
If the car was maintained properly, it will deliver well over 200,000 miles.

shocks, brake pads and discs all wear heavily as these are 'heavy' machines with lots of power. also steering racks and engine mounts can need replacing as they wear out too. tyres of course are as you see them on the car, a good wheel alignement not only improves handling but also extends their life (fronts). i spent about 5 months looking before purchasing here in the uk, mostly at cheaper cars.
