Cool CRUISE Control....

Hey...

Well, finding my self with some time [I find myself with plenty of time actually- I've been furloughed. Thank you Osama. Now die, please] I decided to pull the console apart and check into re-soldering the cruise control computer.

First of all, it was a PAIN IN THE *** to get that thing out. It was wedged in there good, and to put it back I had to basically punch it!

Anyway, I cleaned the contacts with some sandpaper...

I cleaned the contacts on the box after deciding that I didn't feel like resoldering the litterally hundreds of soldered connections, and put it back in. Thinking of the symptoms, I decided to check the vacuum connections, and feeling around under the master cylinder I literally had one break apart in my hand! I rummaged around the house and managed to find a piece of plastic tubing that replaces the little check valve, and now the surging [+/-15 mph typically] is down to about 5 mph... I've noticed quite a few bad looking vacuum hoses under the hood, I'll replace a few more and see what happens...
