Default Gambler's Run ORR photos

The Gambler's Run is over, another great Open Road Race. There were
3 928s there and 1 Z06 with 2 928 drivers.

Here are a couple of shot of Paul, Bill, and Matt driving through the mountains
on the way to Elko:

Matt in his 88 928 S4 finished with a 119.922 avg in the 120 mph class.
This is a very competitive class, so this was only good for a 4th place.

Bill in his 89 928 S4 finished with a 143.865 avg in the 145 mph class, good
enough for a 3rd:

Tim and Cheryl in their 88 S4 finished 2nd with a 160.583 avg in the 160 class:

And Paul and I finished 3rd with a 154.959 avg in the 155 mph class:

Of course the high point of the event came at the Awards Banquet:

I sure I hope I have my car ready for the Pony Express next month. Even though
the Z06 is nice, I really miss my car!

All of the ORR Porsche's can out run the Smokey's, it's the Motorola's that give us trouble.

Guys:

This photo reminds me that this is one of the most beautifully-shaped cars ever made. Still stunning after all these years. I love my 928.

Tim a few years back on our way to 928OCIC in Wichita, we passed a trooper lying in wait who nailed my friends with severe tickets. OK so we put our tails between our legs, wondering how the heck we were going to deal with these massive tickets. Anyway as we approached a sign that read "State Line 2 Miles" my friend says "Well ****, if I'd known that I would have just floored it and outrun him across the line" .... About a mile farther, there was another smokey just waiting

That's Kansas for ya. I wonder how many people do that and get nailed again.

I found out [the hard way] that speeding is actually quite cheap in Kansas. In fact, in my case it was a bargain! Not sure how the neighboring States compare (or compete)... Also, their pricing structure might have changed.

Hmmm... cost me $270 (plus some more $$$ for legal fees for a failed attempt to fight it) for 102 mph in a 70 mph zone way out in western Kansas around Goodland a year and a half ago. Don't know how that compares to other states.

On topic: thanks for the photos, George. Nice, as always.
