I LOVE Moss Green!!

It is actually very blue by nature of the color. Nice restoration work!

Rod
Looking VERY sharp.....it appears its one of those colors that slightly color shifts according to the lighting...so it might look blue under certain conditions...black or green....still very sweet.....I really like the "park" you took the pics in

BTW I got the dashmat....its similar to my old one....

Very nice color for sure - wouldn't mind having that on my own car

Btw, Muncie, Indiana - wasn't that the town featured in 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' ?

Cheers,
Erling

Looks like it just rolled off the factory line! Great color too. Just keep the '90 the Linen Grey Metallic, thats an especially gorgeous color that was only available for '89 & '90.

Congratulations Rod on your outstanding paint job.

I have two questions for you:

1) The hedlamps in the pictures seem to be "S4" headlamps, i.e. without the chrome ring around the headlamp. Is that right? Was that a modification you made, and if so, how did you make it?

2) I am thinking of doing the same to my '86 S (painting the car.) How long did the prep work take, and is it necessary to remove the windows?

Sorry-- I guess that is three questions.

Best wishes,

Scott

The headlights are the H4's, pretty expensive, but they bolt right in. I have to admit, I really like the little nubs on the H5's, but the H4's are much better lights. You may need to get a different bottom mount, they are different lengths, but 928 International has them, so it's not a big deal. I don't remember the part name or number, but Jim or anyone else there will know what you're talking about.

Hmmm, teardown. Probably count on a couple of days and then a bit more to put it back together. Just take your time and keep track of where everything goes. (I'm awful about taking my time, but it's really important. )

I removed the trim around all windows and removed the two rear quarter windows so that some rust could be repaired. Putting them back in is really easy -- "except" for putting the molding back in the middle of the rubber. That took three times on each window and about and hour and a half each, just for those pieces.

It's a lot of work, make sure the paint door jambs, inside the hood and inside the hatch.

Rod
