I created a separate thread on Tim & Cheryl's behalf. They are too modest to brag, so go to the new thread and let them know what you think! Here it is:

Congratulations to Tim and Cheryl! I was more concerned that Tim was going to hurt himself at the awards banquet than I was when he was driving his 928. Awesome job!

As far as the C6 Z06 goes, one of the reasons I bought the car was because my '83 Euro 5 speed runs hot when I use it for ORR. Once the car gets over ~ 140 and definitely while the accelerator is mashed to the floor at 160+, the temp guage quickly climbs to the red zone. This may be the result of some of the mods I've done to the car, but when its reached its top speed of about 162, I'm doing almost 6,000 rpms in 5th gear. It has a stock radiator with integrated oil cooler, plus an external cooler I mounted in front of the radiator. I still have to turn my heater on full blast and crack my windows when running in the 140 or 145 class to keep the temp out of the red. That is seriously no fun when its 95 degrees and I'm wearing a race suit and helmet. Anything less than WOT and the temp is high, but not in the red.

I was considering messing with it more by placing the oil cooler in a different location or running the car without the splash tray under the engine, but forgot about those plans after driving the Z06. By the way, the Z06 makes its top speed of 198 in 5th gear. Shifting from 5th to 6th at 170 actually causes the car to slow down slightly. 6th gear is great for driving at legal speeds (or slightly over), but not for ORR. On the ride home with an average speed of 88mph, I was getting 27.6 mpg in 6th gear.

I love my 928s, but I'm more impressed with the Z06 every time I drive it.

Besides, its fun being the only Corvette to run with Team Porsche at the ORR events!

No kidding, that took a few days to recover from.
