Headlight Relay
My headlights work on low beam but when I flip on the high beams the headlights just go out. Do you think this is a relay problem? If I pull out the relay is there a way to jump and bypass the relay. If so can you tell me how to do it.
1) You have separate high and low beam fuses. Check the high beam fuses at #24 and #25.
2) When this happened to me, it was the combo switch which controls the high/low beam.
3) There are also two relays that may be suspect: at XIII and at XIV (good relay charts w/PN's at928 Specialists.
Check for current at (usually) pin #30 of the relay socket to see if the relay is getting power.
DO NOT take this as gospel and don't 12V yourself, but usually #30 and #87 of a relay can be jumped to power the circuit.
Can anyone verify the jumping of these particular relays as a test and the hot pin of the relay? (Wally?)

James, thanks for your help. I will check to see if #30 pin has power, if not I think it might be the control switch. All other fuses and bulbs are good.
Randy, I was hoping you would get tired of me asking and would just come up here and fix the dang thing for me. but thanks for your concerns you are very helpful....
A quick search using the member's ID # can usually confirm a hunch.
I can understand reposting a question if useable assistance was not obtained on a previous query, however this one clearly doesn't fit that category.
My thoughts on this - if one asks for help and gets some seemingly logical guidance, go out to the car and actually DO the things suggested. If that doesn't fix it, drop back in for an escalated round of discussions, describing what has already been done in attempting to correct the problem. If it DID fix it, post a follow-up letting folks know their advice was helpful.

For your information Randy no one has ever given me any information on how to by-pass the headlight relay. That was the true question that I was presenting. Sometimes when you post a message some people are out of town or dont see the post. I was hoping to get different input this time around. Last time I checked the fuses and the headlight bulbs themselves and they checked out fine that is why I was asking about the relay and how to test it if possible. And how to check for a bad headlight control switch. I didnt think that reposting was going to be that big of a deal. I am sorry if i am disrupting your perfect little message center. Get over it...
