Default Aftermarket caps & rotors?

While picking up some other stuff at the local Autozone today, I asked whether they carried distributer caps & rotors, expecting them to say no, or to carry them at inflated prices. I was quite surprised when they had both, and even more suprised that the caps were in stock. I was then shocked at the price...$21 for each rotor and $27 for each cap. Both are Duralast brands.

Has anyone ever tried these? Why do the OEM versions cost 2x as much?

They are cheap because probably they are for Volvo. Porsche did some engine design for Volvo in eighties and used same part in 928 as in Volvo inline-4.

www.autohausaz.com has really good prices too but its hard to beat autozone prices. And they have the BEST/Fastest online customer service.

Because OEM is Bosch.

So in other words, there's no functional reason to pay more.

Which Volvos? My guess is that asking for the Volvo part gets an even lower price.

BTW, ever priced a cap and rotor for an MB 300SL? (the '50's ones)

Can't remember exact engine type or models where it was used. In any case IIRR its the one where distributor is at the back of the engine close to firewall.

That would be 87 up 740 & 940 4 cylinders. BMW used the same caps as well. They have a different number sequence for the plug wires though.
