I installed a VDO rail mounted FPG a few months ago. At idle , the needle oscillates between approx. 32-34 psi. The pressure is OK, but I was wondering about the constant oscillation.
Anyone out there with an FPG? And if so, how does the reading look at idle? Oscillations? Steady?
I'm thinking I might have a weak/faulty fuel pressure regulator or dampener.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
Scott

My FP flutters at idle from 27 to 28 at ~19 in. vacuum. In time with the injectors it looks/sounds like. It smooths out with higher RPM's.
I have new FPR's and damper.
Stock spec for the FP is 2.5 bar = 36.3 psi; this is with NO vacuum to the FPR's - pull off the vac line to the damper at the front and it should go up to 36,37.

At idle mine quickly vibrates back and forth a few PSI . Fuel pump relay jumpered, engine not running it stays perfectly still.
Works fine!! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Thanks for the replies folks!
I got my FPG from 928 Specialists.
Call Jeannie and ask for the gauge and a replacement test port cap.
It's an easy install:
- Buy 1/8" NPT tap and 5/16" drill bit
- Mount new test port cap in vise
- Drill hole in center of test port
- Tap hole
- Mount FPG to test port and seat as deeply
as possible
- Install test port/fpg to fuel rail.
Done.
HTH,
Scott
