Differences in 1983 model year 928s
A couple of years ago I bought a 1983 928 (rubirotmetallic (sp) with cashmere interior). The car runs but it was missing a few parts so I started searching for a parts car before starting a restoration. This weekend I found and bought the "parts car" a near identical twin to my first 928. The "parts car" is also a 1983 and a near identical twin to my original car except that it doesn'trun but it is 99% complete. Now the parts car looks like a much better candidate for restoration than my original car and has lower mileage to boot.
There are a couple of difference between the two cars that I am curious about : The new car has the radio speakers enclosed in the door panel with perforartions in the door panel vinyl while my original car has the speakers mounted flush on the door panel with black wire mesh grills protecting the speakers. The seat controls on the new car are rectangular in shape while my old car's seat control switches are round/oval shaped.
Are these differences due to design changes during the 1983 model year run or is there some other significance?
Thanks

The perforated door panel speakers are standard for 1983. The two exposed speakers with black grills in each door panel became standard in 1985. The later door panels were an option in 84 and maybe 83.
I'm not sure about the oval seat controls, but I'd guess they were from a non-928.

Round seat control came in '85 MY with new style seats. Most likely seats are changed from later model unless they look same as rectangular button seats.
Perforated door panels were used in standard version for some ROW markets up to at least '87 MY and in Club Sport for '88. Round speakers were option.
