Safety valve in oil filler neck???
I was looking through my Service Info Tech manual for my '85 and noticed that there's supposed to be a "safety valve" at position "f" in the picture. Mine is missing, and I don't recall it ever being there.
Has anyone with an '85 or '86 ever seen this item? Does it have a part #? What would happen if it's missing???
Does anyone have a real picture of it???

yup...
that is how it should be...
I guess that it means that Positive cranckcase pressure is going to your intake, pre throttle all the time as opposed to only at higher loads..
And the whole neck has been superceded with the later plastic filler.. so I would not imagine that it can be ordered... the gasket/baffle plate is also a part you can't order....
maybe devek still has some of the aluminum sheet ones if you need the baffle...

I do have the metal gasket/baffle plate in the filler neck from my last rebuild effort.
I'll have to check the hose itself...maybe I'm lucky and it's wedged inside the hose. *shrug*

Still looking for a part number for this valve. Anyone?

The new filler neck is like $200...
I think that a wrecking yard may be the only source as porsche was able to replace the PN for the neck, valve and baffled gasket with the one part #...
The plastic neck has the valves built in...
I stuck with mine because I had the think powdercoated before I realized I coule not get the gasket... the devek baffle I bought was just a sheetmetal plate, but a little yamabond and it has not leaked since I put it in.... which is more than I can say for the stock one...
