Part number for O2 sensor.
Any body know what the Bosch part number for the single wire O2 sensor is?
The places around here seem to want to sell me the 3 wire unit when I ask for a O2 sensor. If I could get the Bosch part number, then I could redirict them toward the right part, but...
Thanks.

I just ordered the single wire universal O2 sensor from 928 International. 40 bucks plus shipping. I probably couldnt have gotten it much cheaper from Pep Boys and who knows if it would have been for the right application. Sorry I dont have the Bosch part number but the Porsche part number is 928 606 123 UN.

Support your 928 parts vendors! It's unlikely that autozone will be there when you need the gasket set for your valve job.
There's a significant value to supporting these folks, as for many of us it's the only way that ownership is at all practical.
The 45 mins it takes to drive to Autozone, hope they have the right part, drive home... That may easily cost more than the $10 saved. If your cars are anything like mine, the shopping list is a bit longer than just the oxy sensor anyway. Pick up the phone and have all the stuff you need in a day or two.

Your only partly right bob.
I can't bring myself to spend 60 dollars for a part I can get for 16-22 somewhere else. Or 25 dollars for a part I can get for 4. Or $54, for a part I found some where else for $30. Btw, thats delivered to my door.
The big three can't survive by competing with the other, larger, more main stream auto parts houses. There is nothing special about bosch relays, or cold start injectors, or that sort of thing. I don't care if they're a rennlist sponcer or not, I can't afford gold plated parts! From my limited conversations with them, they seem to know this. That was kinda like K-mart going head to head with Wall Mart, it didn't work.
The big three should be surviveing on the 928 unique parts. The gaskets, the valves, the cams, the intake mannafolds, and the proformance parts. When I bought my rebuilt steering rack, guess who I went to? When I'm going to need a rebuilt water pump, guess where I'm going? When I needed tie rods, guess where I went, or rubber ball joint boots, guess where, or the jay kraft tool, guess where. This away their unique information, parts, and service are REALY a major plus. Hard to find, or excessivly expensive, 928 items should to be their stock and trade. Personaly, I'm suprised they even stock things like spark plugs, or alloy wheels, or O2 sensors, or main stream things of that nature. Unless I'm crazy, Bosch is Bosch!
I use the big three when they are reasonable. Often, they are the best price around. When they are not reasonable, they do not get my bussness. (ie, when I can find it for under half the price somewhere else, they're not reasonable.)
Can you disagree with that?

We know, we know, support the Big 3. Yes, that's a good idea, but I agree with Viribus. I'm not going to spend $60 on a part I can get locally for $20, and wait a week for it to show up as well (not a day or two). I've bought misc stuff from all three (spreading the wealth?), and I've bought stuff locally. I will continue to do so. I've also had good service from all of the Big 3, and then have had emails and quote requests ignored (not just once, either). So when I decide on Wednesday that I'm gonna check/change my O2 sensor over the weekend, guess where I will go. When I wanted to be sure I bought all the correct parts for a tensioner rebuild, guess where I went. Not AutoZone.
I think we need to change that to "support the Big 3 when appropriate."

The 11027 is the Bosch universal, listed for 80-82 cars. The 83 and up have the heating element, the three wire kind.
And don't forget, AutoZone will loan you the O2 socket set if you don't already have one.

We cannot compete against Walmart and I'm sure no one is surprised with that. We still offer every part a 928 owner could need for those of you who prefer to talk to a knowledable sales person and would like to one stop shop. We try to have most good sellers on the shelf and many of the 50 plus packages a day we send out are by overnight air. I have no problem with someone getting their parts from Autozone or the likes. We all have our place in the market and no one of us can satisfy all needs but we do try.
Well said, Mark. Just for the record, Mark and 928 Int'l have NEVER be unresponsive to emails or quote requests from me. They've always had the right answers and the right parts, and shipped quickly. It's that kind of attitude and service that WILL get my business, except when I run to the local store to get something quick!
